Prismatic Planet

Picture
Prismatic Planet is a project I wanted to start after coming to terms with how disconnected I was with the world around us.  When I thought about it, though, I didn't really think I was alone in this feeling.  If you want more insight into why I started the site, feel free to read my blog post diving into the topic.  I wanted to do a few things with this website:

  • Increase awareness of how the Earth works
  • Advocate ways that humans can interact with nature
  • Share art with environment and humanity as the focus
  • And, most of all, tell compelling stories

There is a treasure trove of information out on the internet, but rarely do I find examples that entwine that information with storytelling.  This doesn't necessarily mean everything on the site is following the Hero's Journey of 3-Act structure, but at the very least it has to be approachable and promote a connection between people and the planet.

Currently, I am the only content creator for the site.  There will undoubtedly be more types of work on the site over time, but for now there are 3 major categories:

  • Haikusday - A weekly blog/poem accompanied by a photo from my wanderings about
  • Human Nature - A monthly blog investigating the Earth and how humanity interacts with it
  • A growing set of learning materials discussing ecology concepts, biomes, and systems

I've got plenty of plans to grow this site, so be sure to stay tuned!  You can follow Prismatic Planet on Twitter and Facebook.
